(Responding to: (Reader | Victor) How do you Awaken the Whole World?)
Victor,
Thank you again for your thoughtful words and shared wisdom. I look forward to your writings and I keep a few linked so I can reread them when I have more clarity. I would like to share some of my own thoughts from a perspective that is probably much different than your own.
I grew up in poverty; I was probably one of the poorest kids in my hometown, but I was happy. I did not know I was poor until I was old enough to understand why I was different than the 'cool' kids..I learned quickly when I reached 4th or 5th grade that my 'difference' was about not having the fancy/nice/cool things many people had. Knowing I was poor did not make me unhappy, it just gave me incentive to get a job so I could buy my own things. It was not my parents fault we were poor. If you were to visit my hometown today, you would see many of the 'cool' kids that had the fancy/nice/cool things never left my hometown and they did not improve it. They have tried to maintain the status quo they grew up in. A few have striven to build nice businesses to provide what people need/want but the town is very much the same as when I left, aside from buildings and people getting old. Most changes are from strangers that moved in and added a moderate new flare to the existing community.
People are not awake because they place a high priority on maintaining a status quo they are comfortable with - financially, emotionally, spiritually. Their status quo is based on what they know/expect/accept and it really has nothing to do with being happy. Money brings stability - stability comes from lack of comfort-based fear. Happiness does not come from money or stability. Giving people money and stability they have not earned does not make them feel happy, it makes them feel entitled. If giving people money and housing was all that is needed to solve big problems then we would not have people growing up in generational welfare families that learn to work the system for more money rather than learning how to get a job or start a business of their own.
People need to earn what they have to value it. People are not being taught how to be their own boss. People are not being taught life skills to be successful. People are not being taught how they limit themselves by their negative outlook. People are not being taught they actually ARE responsible for every aspect of their own life - to include their health, wealth and self-worth.
People ARE being taught their problems are for someone else to solve. People are being taught how to self-soothe with entertainment, drugs, alcohol, luxuries they do not need and probably can't afford. People are being taught their value is based on how their friends/neighbors view them. People are being taught they should not ask questions because doing so means they are perceived as a trouble-maker. People are being taught to settle for what life throws at them rather than adjusting their mindset for a more positive outcome. People are being taught to live within a paradigm others project onto them - this is an odd form of class-based existence.
To wake people up you have to find a way to shake their senses to the core. You have to show them why maintaining their status quo is contributing to the enslavement of all of us and, more importantly, the enslavement of themselves. We all have busy lives and we prioritize our time based on that which we believe to be most important. In today's world we have been indoctrinated into placing a very high importance on entertainment for the sake of filling our personal emptiness and keeping us satisfied with 'less' than we can be. I watched this play out recently with my husband when we had to go without cable TV a few days. He is self-retired and uses entertainment to fill his void. He is extremely intelligent and awake to most of the topics I am awake to but he has not spiritually awakened - as far as I can tell. He has not found something that shakes him to his core and I have not figured out what that might be.
It is different for all of us because we are so diverse. Some people have very low tolerance for animal cruelty, some have very low tolerance for corruption or liars or thieves or child abusers...you get the picture.
Our world needs an awakening to the very core of our existence. Giving us money/homes/things will not make us happy. Happiness comes from within. Waking us requires us to be shocked so deeply we cannot sleep. We need to weep in grief for the loss of our personal 'status quo' so we can be renewed and see through the veil we have been holding tightly over our own consciousness. Once this has happened we can heal. We are asleep because we have allowed our internal light to grow so dim we do not know it is there - most of us are completely unaware of our inner light - it is THAT dim. If we are not shocked enough to grieve we will go back to our original status-quo and life will simply go on as it has been generation after generation.
I am really counting on an awakening that will shake the world collectively - a shock and awe for the masses (on a spiritual level) so we can heal as one and reject the dark security blanket we are gripping so tightly. I can't imagine what that level of shock and awe looks like and that is what keeps me awake. I know it is coming. I know people I love will be deeply hurt as a necessity that is part of that process. I pray that I will be able to help them through their darkest moments when that time arrives.
As they say - namaste - be well - and may your light shine brighter than the stars above.
