The 11th Labor of Hercules was to bring the legendary golden apples of the Hesperides back to King Eurystheus. There was a rumor that the apples were hidden in the garden of the Hesperides.
The Norse Golden Apples are more equivalent to the Greek Ambrosia, and were a vital food of the Norse Gods. The Norse apples also seemed to very specifically preserve the gods' youth, as opposed to giving them their general immortality or powers – the texts are unclear on the specifics.

The golden apple is an element that appears in various national and ethnic folk legends or fairy tales. In alternative historian Michael Tsarion’s book The Irish Origins of Civilization suggests that the White Cliffs of Dover fit the ancient description of the Pillars of Hercules to a high degree; whereas the mountains along the Strait of Gibraltar are generally espoused as the Pillars. Let’s see if that theory holds water.
The historian Tacitus wrote in his ‘Germania’ that the Pillar of Hercules were located near the Rhine in the territory of the Frisians. Friesland or Frisia is now in The Netherlands where the Rhine empties into the North Sea / English Channel.
From Vlissingen, Netherlands to Dover , UK is about 100 miles (162 km) by ship. Any ship going south from the Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt delta or Helinium (proposed new name Verhagen Delta) would pass by the White Cliffs of Dover.

The Strait of Dover or Dover Strait, historically known as the Dover Narrows ( French: Pas de Calais [pɑ d(ə) kalɛ] - Strait of Calais; Dutch: Nauw van Calais [nʌu̯ vɑn kaːˈlɛː] or Straat van Dover), is the strait at the narrowest part of the English Channel, marking the boundary between the Channel and North Sea, separating Great Britain from continental Europe. The shortest distance across the strait, 33.3 kilometres (20.7 miles; 18.0 nautical miles), is from the South Foreland, northeast of Dover in the English county of Kent, to Cap Gris Nez, a cape near to Calais in the French département of Pas-de-Calais. Between these points lies the most popular route for cross-channel swimmers. On a clear day, it is possible to see the opposite coastline of England from France and vice versa with the naked eye, with the most famous and obvious sight being the white cliffs of Dover from the French coastline and shoreline buildings on both coastlines, as well as lights on either coastline at night, as in Matthew Arnold 's poem " Dover Beach ".
(Numbers note: exactly 51 degrees N = Wow! 3 x 17 = 51; and 33.3 km minimum width = 111 x 3/10)
With an average depth of 150 feet the Strait of Dover is shallow and there is what could be considered a hollow on the coast exactly where the city lies.
Aristotle wrote that “outside the pillars of Heracles the sea is shallow owing to the mud, but calm, for it lies in a hollow.” This is not a description of the Atlantic which is not shallow or in a hollow and which he refers to as a sea not an ocean.
If The Pillars of Hercules are The White Cliffs of Dover, going north leads to nothing or Greenland, but going south straight out of the English Channel heads right through where many ‘maps’ show the main island of Atlantis as on Kircher’s 1669 map, and through the Sargasso Sea – right at Hispaniola and / or Cuba – same heading as the Straits of Gibraltar.

So looking at both of the Straits of Gibraltar and the English Channel as lines or arrows, I find they both point in the same direction, towards the Caribbean islands of Hispaniola or Cuba – quite a coincidence for 2 seaway exits from Europe to the Atlantic.
So history again gives more than one possibility of the location of an ancient place, and given that the cliffs are made of chalk and thousands of years have passed for erosion, who knows what they looked like for Hercules.
Better a chalk cliff than a chalk outline.
