When I built my first house 40 years ago.
At work I had a colleague Wim, who knew everything, had everything and a lot of friends who knew or could do everything.
That makes it a little harder to start a conversation.
But I'm not shy and open minded, so I told him about my cousin Maritn's hobby.
Martin's hobby was model making of radio-controlled planes, the forerunners of today's Drome.
Unfortunately for my cousin Martin, the landing was not perfect and he had to dig out the wreck.
My colleague Wim, who knew and could do everything, told me that this was nothing yet.
He also had a hobby of modelling and racing cars where he had to change tires and had built a Model Car of 50 centimeters, where he reached speeds of 110 Km per hour in his small attic.
Now I could see the attic of Wim's house, and this seemed to me to be very unbelievable.
With a speed of 110 Km and a length of 50 Cm it was impossible for him to take the bends.
Wim admitted that this was a practical problem, which he had solved by placing a hinge in the middle, so that he could take the bends at a length of 5.5 metres better.
I changed the subject, because I couldn't compete with lying.
And told my story.
Dear Wim, I'm rebuilding my first house, where we had to dig out a foundation to make the living room bigger.
Together with a friend we dig and bump into something hard, our reaction was, do we have to dig it all out to make up the foundation?
After two hours of hard work we had dug out a willy jeep from the second world war.
That's quite a strong story, which was even stronger, that the lights were still on.
Wim answered, that's not possible, about 35 years after the second world war and then the lights were still on.
I answered, OK, you make your Model Car Shorter, than I make the lights of the Jeep off.
We still talk about it regularly among our old colleagues, seldom laughing so well.
