Regarding The Department of Energy's Censorship of Cold Fusion, I can attest to the validity of this article.
From 1991-92, I worked at University of Utah's Research Park in an office that published a monthly international scientific journal on cold fusion research.
Exciting documentation on promising experimental results came in from all over the world. We compiled information and physically mailed the extensive newsletter to scores of scientists each month. Ideas were popping up from everywhere, and it seemed a breakthrough was imminent.
As noted, however, the powers that be downplayed the new technology. Drs. Fleischmann and Pons were ridiculed and discredited by the news media. At the time, there was nothing that could be done to counter the disinformation, and it became dangerous to pursue the research.
The university was shamed, funding got pulled, the physicists withdrew from the project, and the newsletter was eventually abandoned.
All of us are hurt by the censorship of truth. Someday, I hope the innovative technology will be revived and I can cheer when these brave scientists have their reputations rightfully restored. Thanks for the article.
